What Is Oil Cleansing?

If you’ve heard of the oil cleansing method, or OCM, but have yet to try it, we’re glad you’re here because it means hopefully, you’re one step closer to freeing your skin from harsh products that are stripping it of its natural goodness. The oil cleansing method goes against many of the things you’ve read and learned about skincare. For way too long, oil-free products have been presented as the solution to many of our skincare problems. Not only is this approach simply not true, also these cleansers, in many cases, are what actually cause breakouts and acne.

Here, we outline the basics of this method of washing your face to help you understand why it works so well for all skin types and the benefits you might be missing out on if you’ve yet to give it a shot.

Oil cleansing uses natural oils to gently remove impurities, grime and makeup from your skin. This method of cleansing has been used for hundreds of years but recently it started gaining popularity due to its amazing benefits.

Based on the principle that like dissolves like, this method uses oils that penetrate deep into the skin to purify and nourish while protecting the layer of the skin that holds its natural moisture. Unlike soaps and foam cleaners, oils do not dry the skin or strip it of the good bacteria it produces. This method of cleansing helps achieve clear, balanced skin.

Oil cleansing works for all skin types. When making the switch to an oil-based cleansing product, it’s important to note that it may take at least two to three weeks for your skin to get adjusted. During the adjustment period, your skin may go through a detoxification process from accumulated buildup.

The Clarifying Cleansing Oil with sea buckthorn berry oil is great for all skin types. It’s a three-in-one product that cleanses, exfoliates and hydrates which will shave off a few minutes from your skincare routine. The organic, holistic oil blend restores stressed, dull complexion to soft, silky and radiant skin. This cleansing oil packs powerful antioxidants, making it an excellent choice for sensitive skin. Sea Buckthorn oil is rich in vitamins and minerals. The fruit contains an exceptional concentration of natural anti-aging Vitamin C and has a unique high fatty acid content, making it one of the most health-promoting herbal oils today.

Another great choice for all skin types but especially those with sensitive skin is the Gentle Floral Cleanser Gel.

Scented with 100% Pure Organic Floral Essences, and made with flower water, lavender oil, and aloe vera, this product clarifies, cleanses and protects while leaving skin feeling refreshed with a dewy look.
